We Have an MP Beating Protesters Just Minutes Ago; Are You Still Talking About Bad Traditions? Tonoyan
At the National Assembly, a deputy is beating protesters, and you still talk about bad traditions? This was stated today, December 28, by Prosperous Armenia Party MP Iveta Tonoyan, addressing My Step faction MP Hayk Sargsyan.
“When speeches filled with pathos are made from this podium regarding past mistakes or issues, I would also like to present some specific numerical data regarding the results of this government over the past 2.5 years. Mr. Sargsyan mentioned data related to 20-30 years ago. As a result of your government's 2.5-year administration, the territory of Armenia has decreased from 42 thousand square kilometers to 29 thousand; the contact line with the enemy has increased by 500 kilometers; we have approximately 5 thousand casualties, about 10 thousand injured, and about 40 thousand fellow citizens who have been left homeless as a result of the recent war—whose problems should be resolved today, yet the government is busy with everything except addressing this agenda,” she stated.
“Today, we are witnessing contradictory statements from the number one official in the Republic of Armenia; every interview presents a new packaging of so-called truths. We have a leadership characterized by ostrich-like politics. Just minutes ago, we had an MP beating protesters at the entrance of the National Assembly, and you still talk about some bad traditions?”
It is worth noting that there was a scuffle between protesters and My Step faction MP Sisak Gabrielyan during the protest action.
