Azerbaijan to Deepen Relations with Iran: Hikmet Hajiyev
Azerbaijan aims to deepen its relations with Iran, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. This was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, during an interview with EU Today in Brussels.
He referred to the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, noting that, according to reported data, the assailant has been sentenced according to Iranian law. Hajiyev stated that Baku considers this incident a closed chapter and does not view it as an obstacle to bilateral cooperation.
Hajiyev characterized the relations between the two countries as normal and stable, emphasizing the working trust established between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. He pointed out that the project of the Araz River and the Aghband-Kalala bridge passing through Iranian territory is included in Azerbaijan's regional connectivity initiatives, and its final structure will be confirmed by 2025.
