Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan Confirms Multiple Meetings with NSS Employees
The head of the Mother See, Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan, confirmed during a press conference today that he has had several meetings with various officials from the National Security Service (NSS), although he did not disclose their names.
"I have been invited to meetings, not summoned; in essence, no notifications were sent. There was an invitation, and we met. During the meetings, they expressed their views, and I expressed mine," Archbishop Khachatryan responded to a question from Azatutyun.
Khachatryan did not elaborate on the timeframe of the meetings. Information about the NSS inviting him had been circulating since the spring of 2024.
"There have been hints regarding certain actions, but it quickly became clear that I am not the person who could be influenced by threats, intimidation, or coercion to take steps that do not align with my beliefs," said the archbishop.
He emphasized that he still holds the same position today. The archbishop refuted allegations against him, describing a circulated video as fake. "I have no actions in my life for which I should be ashamed," he stated.
It is worth noting that personal videos allegedly featuring Archbishop Arshak had been circulated online. The Investigative Committee confirmed that the person depicted in the video is indeed him.
