It Is Necessary to Convene a Council of Bishops: Bagrat and Mikhael Ask the Catholicos
Mikhael Ajapakhyan and Bagrat Galstanyan's statement from November 28, 2025: "The statement made on November 27, along with the disgraceful meeting that followed, compels us to express our profound sorrow and make the following declaration:
- a) We condemn this attempt and the ongoing process of creating a schism as treasonous and covertly executed;
- b) We condemn the secular authorities, who are drawing in traitorous and treasonous figures into the resolution of intra-church matters, becoming instruments in their hands;
- c) Our call is to the traitors to return to canonical grounds and raise their concerns within the intra-church domain and courts;
- d) We address the Catholicos, urging him to convene a council of bishops to discuss the existing issues and prepare an agenda for the National Ecclesiastical Assembly, while insisting on securing the participation of our three illegally imprisoned bishops.
We pray, express hope, and assure that the Catholicos will remain firm and unwavering, and that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our Holy Church will also overcome this trial of evil.
“But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us, for I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:37-39)
