Court Deregulation, Digitalization, and Case Hearing Deadlines: Galayan Discusses Various Programs
The Minister of Justice, Smbat Galayan, participated in the event "Improving the Business Environment through Dialogue." According to the ministry's statement, the minister addressed several programs:
- Court Deregulation: Alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and digitalization reforms have led to small monetary claims (up to 2 million drams) being transferred to notaries or arbitration, reducing the burden on civil courts by approximately 80%, nearly six times.
- Court Digitalization: Civil and administrative proceedings have been fully digitalized. A digital version of the bankruptcy system is expected to be ready by 2026.
- Reasonable Case Hearing Deadlines: It is anticipated that a six-month procedural deadline will be set for first-instance civil and administrative cases. Courts can only extend this deadline with a justified decision.
During the panel discussion, the focus was also on ensuring a predictable legal environment for businesses, improving the efficiency of the judicial system, and new initiatives that contribute to the development of the investment environment.
