Azerbaijani Opposition Leader Jamir Hasanli Prevented from Leaving the Country
Today, one of the leaders of the Azerbaijani opposition, Jamir Hasanli, attempted to depart for Dubai with his wife via airplane. At the passport control of Heydar Aliyev International Airport, he was informed about a temporary travel ban.
Later, Hasanli announced on social media that he had been summoned by the Investigative Committee as a witness in the "Ramiz Mehdiyev case." It is worth recalling that Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Azerbaijani President's Office, has been charged under three articles: actions aimed at seizing power, state treason, and money laundering acquired through criminal means.
According to Azerbaijani media, Jamir Hasanli, the chairman of the National Council and a former MP, attempted to flee Azerbaijan. Hasanli was not allowed to leave the country and was taken to the State Security Service.
