Airbus Recalls Significant Number of A320 Aircraft
Airbus is recalling A320 aircraft for software replacement. The aerospace manufacturer has reported that a significant number of aircraft in the A320 family may experience issues related to flight control systems. The company also clarified that strong solar radiation could damage the data essential for the operation of these systems.
This decision comes after an incident on October 30, when an A320 on a flight from Cancun to Newark made a sudden descent, resulting in injuries to several passengers. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Florida.
Airbus operates approximately 11,300 A320 series aircraft. Industry sources have informed Reuters that this will disrupt global aviation operations and will affect several thousand aircraft.
Already, French airline Air France has canceled 35 scheduled flights, while a Japanese airline has canceled 65 domestic flights.
