Victor Orban and Vladimir Putin Meeting Scheduled for Today
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has announced that he is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin today in Moscow to discuss Hungary’s oil and gas supply, as well as efforts for peace in Ukraine.
“I am going to Moscow to ensure that Hungary's energy supply will be secure this winter and for next year,” Orban stated. In response to a question regarding the peace process in Ukraine, he noted, “We will hardly be able to avoid that.”
Just weeks ago, following a meeting between Donald Trump and Viktor Orban in Washington, a White House representative announced that Hungarian companies importing Russian oil and gas will temporarily not be subject to U.S. sanctions next year.
