Approximately 2,845 Individuals Accused of Highly Dangerous Offenses are in Prisons: Ghalyan

Violence is condemnable. The illegal use of personal data is unacceptable. Any publication that violates human rights and contains calls for violence, including comments, is intolerable. This was stated by the Minister of Justice, Surbhi Ghalyan.

“Each of these acts is punishable under the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. Unfortunately, our society is not immune to offenses, which is why today approximately 2,845 individuals accused of highly dangerous offenses are in penitentiary institutions, and hundreds of others have been subjected to non-custodial preventive measures. Let us not forget that everyone has rights, including those accused of crimes. We should be moderate in our expressions and behavior,” she noted.

It is important to emphasize that a person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, with a legally binding court verdict.
