Russia Rejects Erdogan: Grain Agreement Not Recoverable
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has stated that the time for the grain agreement has "rather been left in the past." He made this remark while commenting on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's intention to discuss the possibility of extending the grain corridor deal.
Ryabkov noted that while effective and efficient efforts are necessary in the field of food security, the current conditions no longer favor the revival of the grain agreement. According to him, it is the European Union that has disrupted the implementation of several agreements that could have contributed to stabilizing global food markets.
"The European Union, which constantly talks about its humanitarian approach, has in fact undermined the agreements that would allow the most needy countries to purchase food from Russia at affordable prices," Ryabkov emphasized, adding that this situation poses a serious obstacle to ensuring international food security.
According to the Russian diplomat, the disruption of agreements particularly harms those countries that are heavily dependent on affordable Russian grain and other food products.
