Russian Foreign Ministry's Statement on Armenian-Turkish Special Representatives Meeting
The special representative of Armenia for dialogue with Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan, and his Turkish counterpart, Serdar Kilic, have agreed to conduct discussions in a constructive and non-politicized manner to find common ground after meetings held in Moscow on Friday. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry, according to TASS.
“The parties have expressed their readiness to enter into dialogue in a constructive, non-politicized manner, in an open spirit, and focusing on practical results—moving from easy to difficult with 'small steps.' An agreement was reached to continue searching for common ground that would benefit the peoples of both countries and foster regional stability and economic prosperity,” the ministry's statement said.
Despite their shared border, there are no diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey. In 2009, the foreign ministers of the two countries signed protocols in Zurich on the establishment of diplomatic relations and the principles of their relations, but these documents were not ratified by either party. On March 1, 2018, Armenia announced the cancellation of these protocols.
