Poland to Purchase €44 Billion Drones for Eastern Shield Program
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that Warsaw will allocate €44 billion for drones at the eastern border as part of the European SAFE defense credit program. Tusk made this statement during the opening of a cabinet meeting.
“Approximately €44 billion will be allocated for the purchase of drone equipment within the SAFE program for the Eastern Shield initiative. This has been a long diplomatic effort, but in the end, we received clear agreement from all of Europe,” Tusk said.
It is important to note that on October 20, Poland's Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, Czesław Mroczek, announced that the country is building a drone defense system at its eastern border. He added that the completion of the drone defense system is expected in 2026.
