Head of Semenovka Community Provides Details on Dilijan Fires

The head of the Semenovka community in the Gegharkunik region, Davit Mnatsakanyan, noted that smoke from the fire has been observed for the fourth consecutive day. Initially, the fires burned in the Dilijan National Park, followed by outbreaks in the surrounding fields.

He reported that participants in extinguishing the fires included rescue workers, eco-police, and national park officials, as well as firefighters from various regions. Mnatsakanyan expressed gratitude to the head of the rescue service, Kamo Tsutsulyan, for organizing the efforts.

According to him, 10–15 hectares of the 60 hectares of forest in the Semenovka administrative area have been burned. He emphasized that previous hotspots have been extinguished, and as of today, the entire area has been cleared of fire.

Mnatsakanyan highlighted that supervision will be organized over the next 2–3 days, with nighttime shifts to quickly detect and extinguish any potential hotspots. He stated that the entire village was engulfed in smoke due to the fire, and it is still too early to discuss the causes, as the fire spread from the vicinity of Fiolotov. Specialists will need to investigate the origin of the fire.

Mnatsakanyan mentioned that the fires have caused damage to both fauna and flora, with the harm to the village pastures being a serious blow to the residents.
