Almost All Flights Cancelled at Brussels Airport Due to Ongoing Strike
On the third day of a nationwide strike in Belgium, almost all flights have been cancelled at Brussels Airport, and public transport services have been significantly disrupted, reports Reuters.
The strike has been organized by the country’s main trade unions and aims to exert pressure on the coalition government led by Prime Minister Bart De Wever. Participants in the action are protesting against government-proposed reforms related to pensions and the labor market.
Brussels Airport has cancelled all outgoing flights, along with 110 incoming flights out of a planned 203. Belgium’s other major airport, Charleroi, has also reported significant disruptions to operations.
Major disruptions are also expected on the last day of the strike in schools, public transport, and the private sector.
