US May Encouraged Ukraine to Surrender Territory, Kellogg
Keith Kellogg, the U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine, has stated that Washington may encourage Kyiv to relinquish some territories in exchange for security guarantees. He noted that the Ukrainian authorities will face "difficult decisions." During an appearance on Fox News, Kellogg responded to questions regarding a peaceful resolution plan for the Russia-Ukraine conflict. "It’s a good plan. There are aspects that need to be regulated and clarified a bit better, but we are almost there," he said.
Kellogg specified that the security guarantees for Ukraine will likely be documented in an additional paper. The Special Representative also mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may soon travel to Washington to discuss the peace plan. "I believe when Zelensky comes to the U.S., which he probably will, although there's no guarantee, there will be an opportunity for that plan to be considered favorable," Kellogg added.
Furthermore, Kellogg emphasized that the U.S. is "two meters" away from concluding the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He described these as the most challenging times. As noted by the Special Representative, U.S. President Donald Trump "intends to see this through to the end." Earlier, Reuters reported, citing four sources, that Special Envoy Keith Kellogg plans to leave Trump’s administration in January 2026. It is worth mentioning that U.S. President Donald Trump has appointed U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll as the new Special Representative for Ukraine.
