Vance Presents Three Principles for Russian-Ukrainian Peace
U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance has outlined three essential principles that, in his view, must be included in any peace plan between Russia and Ukraine. According to Vance, the first and foremost point is the cessation of hostilities, while simultaneously preserving Ukraine's sovereignty and vital national interests.
The second principle demands that the proposed peace plan be acceptable to both Kyiv and Moscow, as otherwise, it cannot be practically implemented. The third point emphasizes the importance of taking steps to minimize the risk of war resuming.
Vance criticized the approach that suggests more funding, weapons, or sanctions could quickly bring about victory. “There is an illusion that if we just provide more money, weapons, or sanctions, victory will be near. The world will not be created by unsuccessful diplomats or politicians living in a fantasy world. It will be created by smart people living in the real world,” he wrote.
