Ukraine Faces Very Difficult Choice, Says Zelensky
Amid the turmoil surrounding the peace plan proposed by the United States for resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed the citizens, warning that the country may face an extremely difficult choice.
According to him, Ukrainians could find themselves in a situation where they have to choose between "losing dignity or an important partner," while also considering "28 complex points or an extremely difficult winter." Zelensky emphasized that he would do everything to protect Ukraine's dignity and freedom.
"Next week will be very challenging and eventful. During this time, we will face significant pressures—political, informational, and others. But we will succeed," he stated.
According to the details of the proposal presented by Washington, the 28-point plan outlines that Ukraine would need to relinquish several eastern regions in exchange for U.S. security guarantees, reduce the size of its armed forces, and postpone NATO membership for several years.
Zelensky has announced that he is ready to work with international partners on the document. It is expected that in the coming days, he and U.S. President Donald Trump will discuss the peace project. Besides these communications, the Ukrainian president has already held talks with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy, assuring that he continues to expect European support.
Zelensky has also communicated with leaders of the European Union and NATO. After negotiations with U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vencis, he stated that he agreed to "work at the advisory level with America and Europe" to clarify the details of the American plan.
