Many Countries Refused to Supply Armenia with Weapons and Equipment: Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, stated that for many years, Armenia faced significant restrictions in military-technical cooperation with various countries. He noted that many nations declined to supply weapons and equipment, believing that they could be used outside of Armenia's internationally recognized sovereign territory.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there are currently no such restrictions, as the foundation of the country's foreign policy is based on the 1991 Almaty Declaration and the legitimate issue of protecting Armenia’s internationally recognized territory.
According to him, legitimacy does not guarantee security by itself, but it ensures a higher level of safety and lower vulnerability, while also allowing access to modern defense means and technologies. Pashinyan added that legitimacy reduces the likelihood of war and simultaneously allows for the enhancement of defense capabilities since no state can question its right to protect its internationally recognized territorial integrity.
He noted that this approach significantly increases the possibilities for acquiring weapons and equipment, as well as access to defense technologies.
