New US Proposal Omits Direct Military Aid to Ukraine, WSJ Reports

The Wall Street Journal has reported that it has obtained a copy of a new American proposal for resolving the Ukraine conflict, which does not include direct military assistance for Ukraine. According to the publication, the "security guarantees that Washington could provide to Kyiv in the framework of conflict resolution do not include direct military assistance from the US to Ukraine."

It was noted that, in addition to the 28-point program, the US is outlining security guarantees in a separate document that the White House intends to offer Ukraine. These guarantees include support in logistics, intelligence, and other measures that will take final shape after consultations with allies.

According to WSJ, the document lacks a clause that would affirm the US's commitment to providing direct military support to Ukraine. The security guarantees are expected to be provided for a duration of 10 years, with the possibility of extension.

Earlier, Axios reported concerning the new draft presented by the US, stating that Ukraine would receive security guarantees based on the principles of Article 5 of NATO's charter. The White House indicated that the proposal needs to be discussed with European partners, and modifications may occur in the program based on the outcomes of those discussions.
