Expansion of Camera Use in Armenian Prisons
Armenia will expand the use of cameras in its prisons. According to a decision made by the government today, 27.1 million AMD will be allocated for the purchase of cameras.
The government explains that the increase in cameras will help prevent violations among detainees, the smuggling of illegal items, and will also enhance the accountability of prison guards. The Ministry of Justice elaborated that the application of cameras is necessitated by the increase in the surface areas of prison buildings, which in turn requires strengthened oversight over detainees.
