Bank Rejections Create Problems for Visually Impaired Citizens, Says Arsen Torosyan
During a government session, Armenia's Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan called on the State Revenue Committee and the Central Bank to strengthen enforcement in areas where businesses refuse to accept non-cash transactions. He emphasized the necessity of ensuring citizens' access to non-cash payment options.
Torosyan also pointed out that visually impaired citizens face challenges in acquiring bank cards, as some banks refuse to service them or require a court order from guardians. According to him, these individuals are forced to receive payments in cash, and the same issue persists for people with mobility impairments who are unable to leave their homes. The minister proposed to address this issue by ensuring their access to relevant services.
