The Ministry of Internal Affairs Approves New ID Card Design
On November 18, a delegation led by Armenian Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sarghsyan visited the production facility of the French IN Group company located in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where the external appearance and security components of the identification card were approved. Various technical issues regarding the structure and design of the passport data page were also discussed, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The delegation was introduced to the directions and technical solutions for the modernization of electronic border management systems. The current phase of the biometric system's implementation, its development process, and expected innovations were discussed.
Arpine Sarghsyan familiarized herself with the printing process of identification cards and passports, emphasizing that it is a priority to ensure modern, secure, and high-quality services for citizens in the area of biometric document issuance.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs is collaborating with a private partner to commence the production of biometric documents in the second half of 2026.
The Minister highlighted the importance of cooperation with the private partner in terms of innovative solutions for identity management infrastructure and document security, noting that it is crucial for the visa liberalization process with the EU.
