Opposition Leadership Must Understand the Significance of the 2026 Elections: Vahe Hovhannisyan

The creation of a new solid authority in Armenia is the only path to having a homeland. However, this cannot be achieved with amateur ideas. Communicating this to the general public, including the state system and those "uninvolved in politics," will not be successful.

Yes, sociology indicates that this government is finished, but for this to become a reality, serious steps are necessary. This was outlined by Vahe Hovhannisyan, a member of the Alternative Projects group.

“First and foremost, it is essential to inform the broad public about what the 2026 elections are about and to accurately articulate the mission of the new authority. By accomplishing this, we can swiftly alter the public atmosphere, halt the momentum of legal terror, and conclude the elections before voting day.”

“In Armenia, resources, political thinking, and aspirations must finally converge, allowing us to address this crucial and most straightforward issue. Otherwise, there is a wide public demand for change, but there is no system that effectively translates that demand into a proper agenda.”

“It is crucial to significantly reduce the spread of erroneous and poorly calculated ideas from non-governmental systems, at least from the leading figures. Primarily, we must reach the point where opposition leadership understands the essence of the 2026 elections. These elections revolve around two key issues: essential changes in the internal life of Armenia and effective management of the peace situation.”

“When viewed from this perspective, the logic of working with the public and the scenarios and interests of internal and external cooperation become evident. It must be acknowledged that while the mission of the next authorities is vital, it is also limited. And this actually is a positive circumstance,” he wrote.
