Hrazdan Municipality Owed Millions: Luxurious Chairs and Drinks in the Office, Says Lilit Stepanyan

Member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, Lilit Stepanyan, made a post on her Facebook page, mentioning the management of the former head of Hrazdan community and addressing his illegal possessions and funds.

“Hrazdan and Hrazdanians,
In July 2018, I was in charge of Hrazdan city until the snap elections. There was nothing in the mayor’s office, they had even taken important documents to an employee’s garage and tried to burn them. Of course, we found them later. In one of the empty cabinets, there was an exotic drink that, for some reason, Aram Danielyan and his team did not take. Maybe they forgot, maybe not. And then in one office, right next to each other, there were two very expensive armchairs—one worth over a million, and the other around a million.

This wouldn’t have been so significant if the municipality didn’t owe about 350 million to various organizations. For example, there are debts for bread and butter for kindergarten kids, debt for funeral wreaths, debts for pens and pencils for employees, debts for bonuses to utility workers, and so on.

I was wondering what success our "proud" mayor was celebrating with this exotic drink, sitting on his 1.5 million drams armchair, when during those years, Hrazdan needed a captain, not a mayor. Of course, I understood over time what the successes were that allowed the mayor to celebrate with this drink along with his gang, but you should also see, dear ones, that the Prosecutor General's Office is demanding 12 real estate properties and 116 million drams from former Hrazdan mayor Aram Danielyan. The market value of the 12 properties is estimated at 710 million 772 thousand drams.

I write this to remind once more what a grotesque situation we closed the door on together in 2018. There should be no return to the past. And everything that was stolen from us, our children, and our state should be returned.

In 2018, the people did not only reject Serzh, but a whole corrupted system that had nothing to do with its citizens and was corroding our country like rust. Perhaps there is a need to remember such incidents one by one as we approach 2026, because the former officials seem to have forgotten. We have not forgotten. This is also the drink with which the mayor celebrated his looting, bought with the municipality's and city budget’s overpriced supplies, of which I did not even see a small cup in the mayor's office,” wrote Stepanyan.
