Hrachya Musheghyan, Who Charged Former Presidents, Will Remain in Detention
The former head of the investigative group for the March 1 case and current lawyer Hrachya Musheghyan's detention order remains unchanged. The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Grigor Hovhannisyan, has rejected the special review petition against his detention order.
Earlier, FactInfo reported that the investigator Musheghyan, who has charged the second and third presidents, was detained on September 12 by Judge Jon Hayrapetyan of Yerevan’s Court of General Jurisdiction. The case under consideration involves an accident in which Hrachya Musheghyan participated. He also holds the status of a defendant in another criminal case, which is still in the preliminary investigation phase.
This other case pertains to business activities since 2014, which has served as the basis for his detention. According to the defense, Musheghyan denies the charges, stating that they cannot pertain to him since he purchased the company in 2023.
The Court of Appeals has dismissed the petition, upholding the decision of the first instance court. According to sources, the defense has recently lodged a cassation appeal, the acceptance of which is still under consideration.
The reporting judge is Serjik Avetisyan.
