Wrestling Federation Issues Response to Gyumri Municipality's Statement

The Armenian Wrestling Federation has responded to the recent statement from the Gyumri Municipality, emphasizing that the federation operates solely within the framework of sports values, Olympic principles, and legally defined authorities.

“In light of recent publications circulating on social media, we would like to emphasize that the federation has not disseminated any official political statements or positions. At the same time, we find it important to note that coaches and athletes, as citizens of the Republic of Armenia, have the constitutional right to express their personal opinions, and their individual publications or views do not represent the official position of the federation,” the message states.

The foundation of the federation's activities remains focused on:

• Sports advancement,
• Readiness of athletes,
• International successes of Armenian wrestling,
• Unity and mutual respect within our great sports family.

We continue to work with the same dedication, guided by the high values of sports and our legally defined responsibilities, upholding the Armenian tricolor and the name of Armenia on the global stage,” the statement added.

It is noteworthy that earlier, the Gyumri Municipality had issued a message assuring that recognized athletes and coaches are expressing their support for Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasian.
