Kobakhidze on the Extradition of Saakashvili to Ukraine

The former President of Georgia and Ukrainian citizen Mikheil Saakashvili, who has been sentenced to long-term imprisonment in his homeland, will not be extradited to Ukraine under any circumstances, stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Commenting on the statement by a senior adviser in the Ukrainian President's Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, that releasing Saakashvili from Georgian prison is part of Kyiv's agenda, the Prime Minister completely ruled out such a possibility.

“There is no possibility of extraditing Saakashvili to Ukraine. It is pointless to take Podolyak’s words seriously,” Kobakhidze noted.

In this regard, he reminded that Podolyak was one of the senior Ukrainian officials who called for Georgia to open a “second front” against Russia, and now the advisor to Zelensky is rejecting Kyiv's suggestions for the Georgian side to start a war.

Earlier, former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili had asked Volodymyr Zelensky to include him in the list of political prisoners.
