Father Isayi Artanyan on Church's Involvement in Vagarshapat Elections
The church has never intervened in any electoral process, and there is no need to drag the Church into the political arena. This was stated by Father Isayi Artanyan.
“In recent days, the name of the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians has been greatly manipulated in relation to the local government elections in the consolidated community of Vagarshapat. It is clear what the intention of certain political forces is in doing this. The Church has never interfered in any electoral process, and there is no need to artificially draw the Church into the political arena with such machinations to justify anti-church actions,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the candidate from the Civil Contract party, Arshisti Mekhakyan, has reportedly won the elections in Vagarshapat according to preliminary data.
