Britain to Halt Uranium Imports from Russia by 2028
The United Kingdom plans to completely stop importing uranium from Russia by 2028. This was announced by the Russian embassy in London to the Izvestia newspaper.
The diplomatic mission noted that the British government initially intended to cease uranium imports from Russia by 2030, but this deadline has now been moved up to 2028 as part of the "Agreement on Technological Prosperity" signed with the United States.
Reports indicate that this refers not to direct uranium supplies from the U.S., but rather to the purchase of nuclear fuel associated with Russia, which belongs to the French company EDF.
The Russian embassy’s statement also emphasized that economic feasibility is not considered a decisive factor in London’s approach to trade matters with Russia.
