Two Individuals Arrested in Vagharsapat for Obstructing Election Campaign

The prosecutor has submitted to the court, with an indictment confirmed on November 17, 2025, the materials of the criminal case regarding two individuals, G.N. and H.N., who obstructed the pre-planned election campaign of the "Republic" party representatives during the local government elections held on November 16, 2025, in the consolidated community of Vagharsapat in the Armavir province.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated by the Investigative Committee, it was determined that G.Q., being a candidate on the electoral list of the "Republic" party for the local government elections in Vagharsapat, arrived in the village of Vagharsapat's Voskehat with party supporters on November 1, 2025, to conduct an election campaign by meeting with voters and holding a car rally as per the established procedure for election campaigning during the legally defined period.

At around 14:00, resident H.N. of Voskehat street met G.Q. near his home and learned that G.Q. was conducting election campaigning by distributing campaign materials about the "Republic" party. H.N. was also informed that candidate H.M. of the aforementioned party would be arriving in Voskehat to meet with voters for the election campaign. With the intent to obstruct the election campaign, H.N. shouted insults and inappropriate remarks, demanding that G.Q. leave, stating that candidate H.M. would not enter the village of Voskehat.

During this interaction, H.N.'s father, G.N., overheard the dialogue between G.Q. and his son and approached them, shouting insults and inappropriate remarks towards G.Q., also demanding that he leave. Not wanting to argue with H.N. and G.N., G.Q. ceased the election campaign and returned to the location designated for installing campaign posters.

H.N. and G.N., continuing their actions aimed at achieving a definitive result, drove their vehicles around the predetermined location for the "Republic" party's election campaign meeting with voters on Barekamutyun street in Voskehat. G.N. exited his vehicle to converse with individuals waiting for the meeting with the candidate of the "Republic" party, after which those individuals left.

On November 2, 2025, the prosecutor initiated public criminal proceedings against H.N. and G.N. under the 5th point of the 2nd section of Article 211 of the Criminal Code (obstructing the campaigning by a group of individuals). G.N. and H.N. have been arrested.

It is noteworthy that the preliminary results of the elections indicate a victory for the ruling "Civil Contract" party led by Arghishti Mekhakyan.
