Prosecutor Submits Case Against Brother and Nephew of Karekin II to Court
The case against Gevorg Nersisyan, the brother of the Supreme Patriarch Karekin II, and his nephew, Hambardzum Nersisyan, has been submitted to court today with an indictment. This information was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia.
On November 3, the father and son Nersisyans were arrested on charges of obstructing the conduct of electoral campaigning. According to the prosecutor's office, on November 1, with the aim of carrying out electoral campaigning and meeting with voters, G. G. arrived in the village of Vagharchapat, Armavir Province, with support from the “Republic” party. Around 14:00, in Vagharchapat, Hambardzum Nersisyan met G. G. near his home on G. Lusavorich Street and learned that he was conducting electoral campaigning and distributing printed materials related to the “Republic” party.
According to the prosecution, when Hambardzum Nersisyan learned that the party's candidate Harutyun Mkrtchyan was also coming to meet with voters, he shouted insults and inappropriate remarks, demanding that G. G. leave, stating that Harutyun Mkrtchyan would not enter the village of Vagharchapat. It was reported that Gevorg Nersisyan also joined the conversation, uttering indecent remarks and demanding that G. G. leave.
Furthermore, it is stated that Hambardzum and Gevorg Nersisyan then went to where the “Republic” party's electoral campaign was being conducted, where Gevorg Nersisyan got out of the vehicle and spoke with individuals waiting to meet the party's candidate, after which the individuals left.
