Details on the Work Done at the Nobarashen Landfill
At the landfill located at 4 Nobarashen Highway in Yerevan, barriers and lighting poles have been installed, while the installation of cameras is still underway. This was reported by Arushanyan, a representative of the Environmental Protection Department of the City Hall, during a procedural consultation of the Yerevan City Council.
Previously, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated that barriers should be installed near all entrances and exits of the landfill area to prevent unauthorized persons from entering. He also emphasized the need for lighting and camera installation.
“Access to the entrances and exits is currently monitored, and unauthorized entries are excluded. A lighting network has been installed by 'Yerevan Light' LLC, and 29 poles with lights have been set up. Surveillance work is currently ongoing in the area,” stated Arushanyan.
According to him, cleaning of the collected waste and covering with soil has also been carried out. Accessibility for vehicles has been ensured across the entire area to allow for rapid resolution and removal of any issues that may arise.
Arushanyan also highlighted that around 5,000 square meters of the landfill area have been allocated, where leveling has been done, as well as a covering with asphalt material. All of this has been implemented to ensure the uninterrupted access of the vehicles of the 'Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning' Municipal Non-Commercial Organization for waste collection and unloading.
