Armenia Issues Wanted Notice for Suspects in Murder of Chechen Citizen
On October 20, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against two individuals for the murder of 23-year-old Aishat Baymurodova, a citizen of Chechnya, under Article 155, Part 2, Clause 8 of the Criminal Code (murder committed by a group of individuals). This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
As a preventive measure, pre-trial detention has been chosen, and a notice has been ordered to declare them wanted according to the established procedure by law.
It is recalled that Aishat Baymurodova had been reported missing since October 17. However, the body of the young woman was later found in an apartment on Demirchyan Street in Yerevan. Initial data suggest that she died on October 16.
Human rights defenders and Baymurodova's friends had warned that she had fled Chechnya to escape family violence. Kim Avdalyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, reports that a public criminal prosecution has been initiated against the two individuals suspected of killing the Chechen citizen under Article 155, Part 2, Clause 8 of the Criminal Code.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
