Ukraine Faces Financial Catastrophe, Germany Warns
Without new extensive financial assistance from the European Union, Ukraine will face a financial crisis in January, writes columnist Jakob Hanke Velar in an article for Handelsblatt.
Just five days ago, European Commission representative Balázs Ujvári admitted that the funding proposal for Ukraine for 2026-2027 is still not ready, and work continues, with a priority on using Russian assets. “If we can't quickly resolve the funding issue, Ukraine will fall,” the author noted.
The columnist clarified that the EU has already paid the promised aid, and no announcements have been made regarding new funds. Earlier, it was reported that Belgian authorities are actively resisting EU pressure concerning the use of frozen Russian sovereign assets.
