Scandalous Revelation: Civilian Shootings in Sarajevo During the War, Investigation Launched

Italy has launched an investigation into the so-called hunting of civilians during the Bosnian War. According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the investigation was prompted by allegations that tourist snipers paid significant sums of money to shoot at civilians from Serbian positions during the siege of Sarajevo.

BBC News reports that Italian writer Ezio Gavazzi submitted a 17-page complaint to the Milan prosecutor's office in February 2025, based on information he collected. He claims the alleged perpetrators include "very wealthy individuals" who "paid for the opportunity to kill unarmed civilians." The writer noted that the first publication of such information occurred in the 1990s in Corriere della Sera.

According to Gavazzi, these individuals, mainly representatives of the business community, would return to Italy after going on these "hunting trips" and continue to live respectable lives. The Milan prosecutor's office has initiated proceedings on charges of deliberate murder. Investigators are trying to determine the identities of Italian citizens who allegedly participated in such "visits." Reports suggest that payments for these visits could reach up to 100,000 euros.

As part of the investigation, several witnesses are expected to be interrogated, including a former Serbian scout. The Serbian side notes that the activation of such themes coincides with the upcoming elections in the Serbian Republic, emphasizing that old stories from the Balkan wars are often used to exert influence on the information space.
