Iran Seizes Oil Tanker in the Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has seized an oil tanker flying the flag of the Marshall Islands while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz and has sent it to Iranian territorial waters. This information has been reported by Reuters.
It was noted that the tanker had previously been near the shores of the United Arab Emirates and was transporting high-grade fuel through the Indian Ocean towards Singapore.
According to AP, this is the first such seizure of a vessel in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz in recent months. The incident has added new tensions in the region, where the security of oil tankers remains a focal point of international attention.
