Arthur Hovhannisyan on the Trials of Prisoners Held in Baku
The authorities of Armenia are deeply concerned about the judicial processes and their content regarding Armenians currently taking place in Baku. This was stated today by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the ruling ‘Civil Contract’ faction, during a briefing at the National Assembly, while commenting on the trial of former military-political leaders of Artsakh in Baku.
“We have deep concerns regarding the trial taking place in Baku. The created atmosphere—the atmosphere of peace—should create conditions that would allow us to address the issue of the return of our compatriots held in Azerbaijan to their homes. Daily work is being carried out in this direction; it is a primary issue for us,” Hovhannisyan continued.
According to Hovhannisyan, it is precisely the atmosphere of peace that should create favorable conditions for the return of the captives.
It should be noted that yesterday in Baku, the fabricated trial against the former military-political leaders of Artsakh and other prisoners continued, during which prosecutors in Azerbaijan demanded sentences ranging from 16 years to life imprisonment for the military-political leaders of Artsakh.
