What Russia Demands to End the War: The U.S. Confirms for the First Time

The U.S. has officially confirmed for the first time that Russia demands the cession of Donbas as a primary condition for ending the war against Ukraine. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio following the G7 summit, in response to a question about whether Moscow is prepared to cease military operations.

“We can only judge by what we see. They have clearly stated that they want all of Donetsk, and of course, the Ukrainians will not agree to that. So yes, that is the conclusion we must draw. They have made demands that Ukraine cannot agree to, and we are now at that point,” Rubio noted.

According to the U.S. Secretary of State, such demands from Russia make it impossible to advance the negotiation process, as Kyiv has repeatedly emphasized that territorial concessions are out of the question.
