The Shooter Targeting Trump Conducted Prior Reconnaissance Using a Drone: WSJ
A man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President, was able to survey the area with a drone just hours before the kickoff of a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. This information comes from The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources within law enforcement.
According to them, for the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, this was only one of several ways to orchestrate the assassination attempt. The report highlights yet another example of the "stunning miscalculations" by security agencies, which nearly resulted in the former president's death.
WSJ's sources indicate that police spotted Crooks about an hour before the event; he was seen wandering the area with a backpack and remote-controlled device. Officials stated that the suspect had registered for the rally on July 7 and visited the venue a few days later to assess the situation on-site.
