Government to Draft Bill on Teacher Benefits
The Government of Armenia will prepare a draft law on the "Status of the Teacher," which will outline all the main benefits available to educators. This was announced by Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly.
Andreasyan recalled that several years ago, within the framework of pension reforms, the teacher's pension was abolished in Armenia, which had been available to educators with a certain work experience starting from the age of 55.
She also noted that the ministry has temporarily suspended subsidizing transportation fees for teachers who reside in one locality and teach in another. According to the minister, information has been received from law enforcement regarding teachers who have obtained benefits based on false certificates concerning their place of residence. The program will resume after checks and the exclusion of such cases.
