US Senate Approves Compromise Agreement to End Shutdown

The US Senate has approved a compromise agreement that ends the temporary government shutdown in the country’s history. The bill was passed by a vote of 60 to 40, with support from nearly all Republicans and eight Democratic senators.

The legislation will be sent to the House of Representatives, which is under Republican control. Speaker Mike Johnson has stated he wishes to have it approved on Wednesday and presented to Trump for signing. Trump has called the agreement 'very good.'

The signing of the document came a week after the Democrats won elections in New Jersey and Virginia, and a Democrat-Socialist mayor was elected in New York.

The deal has sparked dissatisfaction among many Democrats, who point out that there are no guarantees that the Republican-controlled Senate or House of Representatives will agree to extend health insurance subsidies. It appears that the agreement does not include specific limitations that could prevent Trump from implementing new spending cuts in the future.
