The Lynx Discovered in Shirak Region Transferred to Relevant Center in Yerevan
A lynx found in one of the communities of the Shirak region has been transferred to Yerevan for further care, according to Ani Hakobyan, spokesperson for the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia, on Facebook.
She stated that the process of transferring the lynx was under the close attention of the Ministry of Environment, with all necessary actions taken to ensure the safety of the animal and to relocate it to a place as close as possible to its natural habitat.
Representatives from relevant organizations and civil society groups were involved in the process.
Earlier, the Ministry of Environment reported that a citizen had recorded the lynx in one of the communities of Shirak region. "This observation is an important fact from the perspective of biodiversity restoration in the country and indicates that positive changes are occurring in Armenia's wildlife ecosystems. The lynx (Lynx lynx) is a rare predatory animal listed in Armenia's Red Book, primarily inhabiting mountainous and forested areas," noted the statement released by the Ministry of Environment.
