Over 9,000 Traffic Violations Detected, Hundreds of Drunk Drivers and Unlicensed Driving
From November 3 to 10, during a service conducted in the capital, Yerevan traffic police identified 5,425 traffic violations, relocating 173 vehicles to designated areas. Specifically, 207 drivers were found to be under the influence of alcohol, while 227 individuals were driving without a valid driver's license. Violations included 26 related to registration plates, one vehicle operating with a fake registration plate, 890 instances of not wearing seatbelts, eight cases involving children not in car seats, 412 instances of smoking while driving, 275 cases of using a phone, 97 pedestrians crossing in unauthorized areas, and 1,688 other violations. This information was provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Additionally, 149 vehicles were operated without insurance, 229 had not passed technical inspection, 84 had malfunctioning headlights, and 100 had tinted windshields and side windows. During this period, police also arrested and transported 96 individuals to community police divisions on various suspicions.
In the regions, police detected 13,620 traffic violations and moved 264 vehicles to special areas for safeguarding. Among these, 224 drivers were caught driving under the influence, 446 were without driving licenses, and six were driving with fake licenses. Additional violations included 44 related to registration plates, 3,179 cases of not wearing seatbelts, 167 instances of children not in car seats, 516 cases of smoking while driving, 612 instances of phone usage while driving, 66 pedestrians crossing in unauthorized areas, 2,540 speeding violations, and 3,290 other infractions. Furthermore, 415 vehicles were operated without insurance, 1,038 had not passed technical inspection, and 814 had faulty headlights, including 33 trucks and 164 vehicles with tinted front and side windows. Police also arrested and transported 42 individuals to regional community police stations.
