Former French President Released from Custody
The Paris Court of Appeal has released former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and imposed judicial supervision with a ban on entering the country. According to Euronews, the motion was filed by the former president's lawyers. Sarkozy participated in the hearing via videoconference, after which the prosecutor requested his release under strict judicial supervision.
On September 25, the Paris Criminal Court sentenced Sarkozy to five years in prison for 'criminal conspiracy' related to the alleged Libyan financing of his 2007 election campaign.
