Putin's Order to Russian Troops Revealed
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not "ordered preparations to begin" for nuclear tests. According to him, such a decision will only be made if the United States conducts tests. "First, we need to understand whether it is necessary to do so. This must be a very serious, well-founded, and considered decision. This is what our specialists are currently working on," noted Peskov.
Days ago, Putin instructed to gather additional information regarding U.S. nuclear testing programs and to present proposals about the potential start of such work by Russia during a Security Council meeting. Prior to the meeting, the U.S. Space Command announced a test of an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead. Putin also reported on the successful testing of the "Poseidon" underwater device and the "Burevestnik" missile, after which U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the Pentagon to resume nuclear testing.
Putin's directive was issued following the proposal by the Defense Minister with the aim of promptly preparing for widespread nuclear testing. President Trump had stated that several countries, including Russia and China, have conducted underground nuclear tests, although China's foreign ministry denied this claim. Dmitry Peskov remarked that Moscow still does not understand what the U.S. president meant, adding that "Russia and China are not testing nuclear weapons."
