November 9: The Day the War Ended and History Changed

Today marks November 9, the 5th anniversary of the end of the 44-day war in 2020. On this day in 2020, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page that he had signed a declaration with the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan to cease the hostilities starting at 01:00.

Pashinyan stated that the text of the declaration, which had already been published, was indescribably painful for him and for the people. This day is marked in black on the Armenian calendar.

As a result of the trilateral agreement signed five years ago between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan, a significant portion of Artsakh was left to the enemy, and today, the historic Armenian homeland of Artsakh is entirely lost and depopulated.
