Russia Warns: US Nuclear Tests Could Threaten Global Stability

The potential resumption of nuclear tests by the United States could lead to a new arms race and escalate international tensions. This was stated by Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He noted that reports regarding Washington's intentions have raised concerns both within the international community and in the US itself. Nebenzya highlighted that such tests have not been conducted since the early 1990s, and their resumption could lead to unpredictable consequences.

He added that Russia is closely monitoring the developments and reminded that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already expressed his stance on the matter.

Earlier, former US President Donald Trump announced that he had ordered nuclear weapons tests to be conducted on "equal terms" with countries that are carrying out similar programs.

In turn, President Vladimir Putin tasked the Security Council with analyzing the preparations for possible nuclear tests at the Novaya Zemlya training ground and presenting appropriate recommendations.
