US Special Envoy Talks About Aliyev's Decision

US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Biegun has stated that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has demonstrated a "brilliant example of state thinking" by halting military operations against Armenia.

During his speech at a business forum aired on Fox News, Biegun noted that Aliyev's decision allowed him to avoid international criticism.

According to him, during a meeting in the Oval Office on August 8, former US President Donald Trump asked Aliyev in the presence of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, "Why did you stop? You won, you have a large army." Aliyev replied, "I wanted to take back what had been taken from us; I do not need more."

Biegun concluded, "That was an example of leadership."
