The Arsenal of the Law Enforcement System's Imagination is Depleted, Says Serzh Sargsyan's Lawyer

Amram Makinyan, the lawyer of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, has issued a statement.

“I declare the arsenal of the law enforcement system's imagination to be depleted… Yesterday evening, the necessity to summon the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, to the Anti-Corruption Committee 'suddenly' arose. Why 'suddenly'? Because during the day, it became clear that the courts did not believe the illusion put forward by the prosecutor's office that the president might flee.

What happened hours later… when you have nothing else to say within the entire law enforcement system, but you must restrict the exit of the third President of Armenia at all costs, the testimonies of deceased individuals from 20 to 25 years ago, which have been shelved since 2019, were suddenly brought to aid. Testimonies from individuals who even refused to testify back in 2019, clearly stating that their testimonies had been poorly translated while they were still alive.

I ask, didn’t you remember this after 2019? How many years have passed, and why were you keeping this 'powerful' case… ah, I see, you remembered when the courts did not ban the president's exit… it’s obvious, everything is clear. In short, you have chosen your path, and since I am a lawyer, let me conclude my public statement this way: we will meet in court…”
