Prosecutor Receives Information That Serzh Sargsyan Is Planning to Leave Armenia
In the urgent session convened today regarding the case of Armenia's third President Serzh Sargsyan, the issue of changing the preventive measure against the president was discussed at the request of the prosecutor.
Judge Givi Hovhannisyan announced that Prosecutor Tsovak Mnatsakanyan had submitted a request last night to impose a preventive measure restricting Sargsyan's departure from the republic.
It was noted that the Prosecutor's Office has approached the Anti-Corruption Court, claiming that they have operational data indicating that Serzh Sargsyan is planning to leave Armenia, and a request has been submitted to re-impose a restriction preventing him from leaving the country.
Sargsyan was not aware of the reasons for convening the session and stated to reporters, “Once the session begins, it will become clear.” The session will continue behind closed doors.
It should be noted that in previous sessions, the restriction preventing Sargsyan from leaving the republic had been lifted.
